“It’s papers that fly, not an aircraft” is what I used to hear during my early days with a small, regional airline struggling to make a living out of a few 18 seater turboprops. While this may not be entirely true, aircraft documents are very important in the life of an aircraft and they often make the difference between gain and loss. They also play a vital role in determining the aircraft’s airworthiness and its market value. Below is a simple infographic to show you just how many (basic) aircraft documents are required for commercial operations. I also attempted to explain this list of acronyms and hope to provide you with a comprehensive glossary of aviation terms shortly.
